I’m excited to announce that I’ve been selected as the newest member of the United Way Leadership Council, representing the Northeast region! It’s truly a privilege to contribute to this incredible program and its initiatives focused on development and raising awareness of the challenges that people in our area face.
The United Way Leadership Council is designed to connect the concerns of our neighbors with the leaders and organizations dedicated to finding solutions. As someone who lives and experiences the same obstacles as many in our area, I’m eager to be a voice for change, ensuring resources like funding, donations, and essential supplies are directed where they are needed most.
This aligns perfectly with BlackGyrlWorld's mission of fostering growth and empowerment, and I’m honored to be part of this movement for positive transformation. A few of the issues I’ve already raised include the lack of affordable grocery stores offering healthy options, the absence of sidewalks to encourage outdoor activities, the overwhelming number of gas stations compared to grocery stores or youth centers, limited public transportation for the elderly, and the need for dog parks where pet owners can safely socialize their furry friends.
I’d love to hear from you! If you have suggestions or concerns about issues affecting your area, please reach out. Your input is vital, and I’m excited to take this first step toward meaningful change. Let’s make a difference together!
